The different types of yoga available illustrate how diverse the study can be. They also give the individual plenty of options to help find the perfect match for each personality.

There are many types of yoga. Most of the more commonly known types of yoga have evolved from Hatha, hence the subject of this web site. Hatha is the branch of our study that focuses on the physical well-being of a person and sees the body as the driver of the spirit. All of the types of yoga that have evolved from Hatha are a combination of stretching postures, meditation, and breath control developed over the course of the last 6,000 years of history as a physical, mental, and spiritual discipline. Types of yoga are a science, that is, it is a body of techniques that lead us to consciously connect with ourselves and with life.
The actual experience of connection results from practicing the techniques and is an excellent way to relieve stress. Using the different types of yoga involves a series of both moving and stationary poses, combined with deep breathing, and meditation for the more advanced student who chooses to use all the basics. There are at least ten different types of yoga that have developed from Hatha that many will recognize, although these are not the only ones. They are: Ashtanga, Iyengar, Viniyoga, Bikram, Kundalini, Ananda, Anusara, Jivamukti, Sivananda, and Svaroopa. Some of these types of yoga emphasize the alignment of the body while others concentrate on coordinating the movement and breath.

All types of yoga are quickly becoming a mainstream tool for stress reduction, because it is a powerful system of self-care whose benefits have been proven over thousands of years. It’s a good way to relax, become flexible, and build balance for overstressed professionals. Not to mention the more advanced benefits one will encounter as they develop a long term commitment that is consistent. If one simply chooses their favorite types of yoga or type of yoga and makes it/them a part of their regular routine for exercise they will find new horizons of understanding with relation to life and themselves that can bring spiritual awareness with what almost seems to be shear accident.
